The Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL), has honoured the Vice Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Ashara Maureen Chika, with an Award of Excellence for her contributions to community development and service.
Chika received the award at the 40th anniversary celebration of ISTDAL held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The anniversary, with the theme, “Deepening the Unity, Peace and Security of Imo State Through Equity, Justice and Brotherly Love,” featured the recognition of individuals who had contributed to the growth and development of the association.
In her remarks after receiving the award, Chika expressed appreciation to ISTDAL for recognising her contributions and pledged her continued support to the association.
She described the honour as one of the awards and recognitions she had received in appreciation of her service and commitment to community development.
Chika also called for greater unity among the Igbo people and urged them to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic differences, saying that unity remained important to the development and progress of the country.
The award ceremony formed part of activities marking ISTDAL’s 40 years of promoting unity, development and cooperation among indigenes of Imo State residents in Lagos.
Chika’s recognition highlighted the association’s efforts to acknowledge individuals whose contributions have supported community development and strengthened its activities over the years.
