Kenya’s government has downplayed the impact of the United States’ freeze on funding for the Haiti security mission.

Despite the U.S. withholding over $13 million under President Trump’s 90-day aid pause, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura stated, “The fund remains well resourced to support the mission until the end of September 2025.”

He highlighted that the mission is supported by the UN Trust Fund for Haiti, with contributions from several nations, including the U.S., which had already provided $85 million.

Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei reassured, “The mission already has $110 million to continue operations, and we are very confident that other countries will come on board.”

He further added that the U.S.’s freeze “only affects about $15 million” and does not disrupt operations since much of the funding has already been disbursed.
