The Lagos State PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (aka Jandor), on Thursday pledged to officially recognise Aug. 20 for the celebration of Isese Day if elected in 2023.

Adediran, who had been touring various electoral wards across local government areas to seek support, made the promise when he led his team to Apapa LGA.

He visited the members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area ( LCDA) in Lagos.

The candidate said that his government would honour and treat all religion equally and not be sentimental in his relationship with religious leaders.

Adediran said that he had contributed immensely to the development of OPC since inception as a foundation member.

“I want to inform this gathering that I was a foundation member of the OPC and still a corporate member. This governorship contest is your project which we must actualise.

“I will like to inform you that before the commencement of this journey I had met with our leader and Aare Ona Kankafo, Iba Gani Adams in his Omole house for blessing.

“I am not here for campaign but to congratulate you that one of you will become the 16th governor of Lagos State in 2023,” the governorship hopeful said.

He said that his tie with Chief Gani Adams was historical and they both had ideological connection.

In his remarks, the Chairman of OPC in the council, Mr Lukmon Usman, said that Adediran’s visitation was a morale booster for the group, saying “we are happy that we have one of our own in the governorship race”.

Similarly, Adediran, in another interaction with the United Assembly of Imams In Badia (UAIB) at Ijora in Apapa, said that he was confident that the islamic clerics would support him as a practising muslim.

The candidate assured the religious leaders that he would use his knowledge, wealth and connections for the development of the state.
“It is time for the people of the state to reclaim the political leadership of the state.

“I am seeking your blessing and I want to assure you that the era of godfathriasm would end in 2023,” he said.

Adediran reiterated his plan to ensure free and compulsory education with free school uniforms for school children.

Responding, the leader of the Islamic clerics, Sheik Salau Maraba, urged Adediran to run an open door policy if elected, saying that he should not forget about fulfilling his campaign promises.

Maraba also canvassed more islamic teachers in all secondary schools, saying that public schools were short of islamic teachers.

While Adediran met with several critical stakeholders, his running mate, Ms Funke Akindele, toured markets, including Ijora markets to seek traders’ support on their ambition.

The campaign train has so far visited all wards in Alimosho, Badagry, Ojo and Amuwo-Odofin local government areas.
