The Lagos State Government says it has reclaimed the encroached portion of Ikorodu GRA Scheme III, located in Odonla, Lucky Fibre axis of Ikorodu and returned the land to the original allottees.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Mukaila Sanusi, Deputy Director, Public Affairs of the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Sanusi quoted the commissioner in the ministry Dr Idris Salako to have said this in Alausa on Thursday.

Salako said the government had to dislodge the illegal occupants and return the affected portions of land to the original allottees, who had Certificates of Occupancy issued by the  Lands Bureau.

He said, “the move was to restore confidence in government schemes, give deserved restitution to the rights of the original allottees and also forestall the bastardisation of the scheme”.

Salako said the process that led to giving the rightful owners justice was a follow-up to the service of statutory notices, including a stop-work order issued against illegal constructions on February 4th, 2022.

He warned land grabbers popularly called Omo-Oniles to “stop further encroachment on government land” while warning unsuspecting buyers to beware of such land offers.
