The General Manager of the Lagos State Command and Control Centre, Mr Femi Giwa, says the agency has intensified efforts to boost public awareness of its operations.

Giwa disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Giwa said many residents were unaware of the centre’s existence and emergency platforms.

He said the centre was leveraging credible media, including the News Agency of Nigeria, to promote its services.

“We recognise NAN as the number one national news service. This platform helps us propagate what we do,” he said.

Giwa said Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had expanded the centre’s scope through infrastructural upgrades and technological initiatives.

He said the state introduced the Lagos Emergency Responders Management System to strengthen coordination among first responders.

Giwa said residents could report emergencies through 767 and 112 toll-free lines and a mobile application, Eko-Help Initiative.

He said the app enables real-time reporting with video evidence for faster response.

Giwa said a Dispatch Management System would soon allow responders to navigate directly to incident locations using GIS technology.

He said an Ambulance Management System would help identify hospitals with available bed spaces before transporting victims.

“This reduces the thin line between life and death in trauma cases,” he said.

Giwa announced plans for a Public Aafety Notification Alert System to alert residents during emergencies.

He said residents in affected areas would receive safety prompts during disasters.

“Our goal is safety of lives and property through improved emergency management,” he said.
