A fire outbreak at Aswani Mechanic Village, off Osolo Way, Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos, gutted six shops on Sunday but caused no deaths or injuries.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LRU Fire quickly contained the blaze after responders arrived at the scene.

Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, who stated this in a statement, said the incident was reported at 12:26pm.
The LASEMA Eagle Response Team from Cappa, alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LRU Fire, arrived within 15 minutes of the alert.
The responders found that the fire had destroyed some shops in the mechanic village. Preliminary investigations linked the outbreak to a power surge.
Fortunately, the fire affected six shops but did not damage any vehicles. No life was lost, and no casualty was recorded.
The responders evacuated traders and artisans from the immediate area. Their swift action stopped the fire from spreading to nearby workshops and helped protect other properties.
The agencies have subdued the fire, while dampening-down operations continue. These efforts aim to prevent a fresh outbreak and secure the area for safety checks.
The situation remains under control. Recovery and mop-up operations are ongoing at the affected section of Aswani Mechanic Village.
The authorities have secured the area to allow traders and relevant agencies to assess the damage.
The Lagos State Government also praised the responders for their speed, professionalism and cooperation.
Following the development, the government urged market and workshop operators to follow electrical safety rules.
It also advised them to avoid overloading circuits and ensure that fire extinguishers remain installed and regularly serviced.
The government stressed the need to comply with safety rules issued by the Lagos State Safety Commission to prevent future fires.
