The indigenous and extended family called “Umuokere and Amadi” of Mboke Umuoye lmerienwe in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State were just attacked by many armed thugs who claimed to be sent by the Traditional Ruler of Imerienwe, Eze Augustine Ekechi, over the land grabbing of Umuokere and Amadi family land called Okohia Ala-Ukwu.

One of the Principle members of the family Pst. Barrister Iyke Nwawuike JP was seriously wounded with the mouth of a gun which they threatened to shot him with.

The armed thugs supposedly serve as a neighbourhood security watch but have obviously become tools of oppression and forceful commandeering of properties.

This same Okohia Ala-Ukwu had previously been adjudicated on by the EZE and his council with a resolution it belongs to the Umuokere and Amadi family.

Six years down the road, with land prices skyrocketing and this remaining the only large piece of land untouched I. the community, it’s obvious commercial interests are trying to change the ownership structure and take over rthe land forcefully.

The case had already been reported to the police who made an arrest on the land but notwithstanding, others, allegedly sent by EZE Augustine have continued to encroach and embark on tree logging activities.

This a a desperate call by the family before they are annihilated via the guise of unknown gunmen, security information or kidnap attempts in a bid to take over their land.
