The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has called on Nigerians to make Bible reading part of their daily lives.
The General Secretary/CEO of BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi said this at an event to declare open the 2024 edition of the Marathon Bible Reading held on Sunday in Lagos.
The event was held at the Christ Anglican Church, Pen Cinema, Agege, a suburb of Lagos.
Sanusi was represented at the event by Mr Yemi Olayiwola, Assistant General Secretary, Corporate Development, BSN.
Sanusi said that the reading of the Word of God and its application would turn the challenges the country was passing through for good.
“If Nigerians read their Bibles daily, inculcate Biblical virtues and live according to the will of God, no doubt, God will be pleased with our country and heal our land.
“Remember that Righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any people,” Sanusi said.
The CEO said that the 2024 edition of the marathon Bible reading would take-off on Monday (tomorrow) in 300 different reading centres in 22 states including Lagos.
“We are looking forward to when all the states in the country will join in this programme.
“People, irrespective of denomination, profession, age or sex can visit any centre closer to them in any of the participating states and take part in the programme.
“The programme holds from Monday, August 26 till Friday August 30, 2024, from 9:00 a.m to 5: 00 p.m daily.
“Participants will have a three-fold joy of participating.
“They will have the joy of reading the Bible in their languages, help someone else hear the Word of God in a new way and join others in continuous reading of the Bible,” Sanusi said.
He expressed gratitude to the Vicar of the Church, Venerable Tunde Oyewole for allowing the BSN to use the church for its opening ceremony.
Also speaking, Owoyele said that he expects more Nigerians to read the Bible.
Owoyele said that the solutions to the problems of the nation is in the scriptures.
He thanked the BSN for using the church for the opening ceremony of the marathon Bible reading.
The climax of the event was the reading of the Bible in different languages.
The Bible Society of Nigeria is involved in making the Word of God available and affordable to Nigerians to transform their lives.
They do this through Bible translation, publishing, distribution and organising life transforming programmes and fund raising.
