Man, 35, Docked For Allegedly Stealing Property Worth N6m

A 35-year-old man, Daniel Ojiji, who allegedly conspired with others  to divert property worth N6 million, on Monday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Ojiji who was at large for six months, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Ojiji and some others still at large, committed the offences on Feb. 2, at the Young Shall Grow Transport Company, Ojuelegba Station, Lagos.

Ekhueorohan alleged that Ojiji conspired with a young shall grow driver and diverted property worth N6 million that was meant to be delivered to a customer.

He said that Ojiji and the driver diverted a table tennis board, 8 plasma televisions with remote controls, a sound electronic wolver and 8 split unit air conditioners.

He added that Ojiji and his accomplices allegedly redirected the property belonging to one Anebi Ocholofu to another location.

The offences, he said, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.I. Dan-Oni, granted Ojiji bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum

She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and the residential address of the defendant must be verified.

Further hearing in the case was adjourned until Sept. 30 for mention.
