Man confesses to selling his son for N400,000

The Police Command in Akwa Ibom says it has arrested one Gabriel Okon Ekpiri for selling his nine-year-old son for N400,000 due to hard times.

Odiko Macdon, Public Relations Officer, stated this in a press statement in Uyo.

He said the suspect was arrested by the Quick Intervention Squad of the Command.

The Command spokesperson added that the culprit, a native of Ekit Itam Akpan Obong community in Itu Local Government Area of the State confessed to the crime.

“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Olatoye Durusinmi condemned the action of the suspect.

“The CP noted that the act was barbaric and totally unacceptable, and the suspect who was arrested by the quick Intervention Squad of the Command has confessed to the crime while blaming the devil and economic hardship for his actions.”
