Abuja, Jan. 24, 2023: A civil servant, Orayelu Vincent on Tuesday dragged his wife, Comfort before a Customary Court in jikwoyi Abuja, over alleged threat to kill his only son.

Vincent, in his divorce petition, said:ā€ after my wife absconded with my son, I got information that she had taken him to her sisterā€™s house, on getting there, I requested to have my son back, my wife and her older sister vowed that instead of giving me back my son they will rather kill him.

ā€œIt is on this grounds that I seek court to dissolve the marriage between us,ā€ he said.

He told the court that his sister in-law suddenly turned against him.

The respondent, Comfort who was present in court denied all the allegations.

The presiding judge, Mr Labaran Gusau, adjourned the matter until Feb. 9, for further hearing.

Also, in a related development, an Ikeja Chief Magistratesā€™ Court on Tuesday remanded a 25-year-old man, Akinbode Rilwan, who allegedly defiled a 16-year-old.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, did not take the plea of the defendant.

She ordered that he should be kept at the Ikoyi custodial facility pending advice of the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Kubeinje adjourned the case until Feb. 21 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2022 at Bariga, Lagos State.

Ajayi said that the defendant lured the teenager to his room and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

ā€œThe case was reported to the police, and the defendant was arrested,ā€ the prosecutor said.

Ajayi said that the offence contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
