The Wife of Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has paid glowing tribute to nurses, describing them as unsung heroes whose compassion and dignity continue to transform healthcare delivery.

Soludo, also the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, made the commendation on Tuesday in a message to mark the International Nurses Day.

The International Nurses Day, is observed every May 12, to mark the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing and to honour nurses for their role in healthcare systems.

The theme for this year’s commemoration is – “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”.

She noted that behind every recovering patient is a dedicated nurse who often stays awake through the night, offering reassurance in moments of fear and anxiety, while providing care with patience, strength and love.

According to her, the contributions of nurses go beyond medical duties, as they bring hope, comfort and humanity to healthcare and the society at large.

Soludo commended the dedication, sacrifice and resilience of nurses in Anambra State and beyond.

She said that their commitment continues to save lives, strengthen families and uphold the dignity of communities.

“The world is healthier, kinder and safer because of the invaluable role you play,” she said

She wished nurses a happy International Nurses Day and urged them to sustain their commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
