
The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured corps members that his administration’s first agenda is prioritising peace and prosperity of the citizens, including topnotch welfare provision for corps members.
Fubara stated this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area (LGA) in his address to corps members in the 2026 Batch B, Stream 1 orientation course posted to the state.
The governer represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Samson Dede, assured them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to support the scheme’s operations in the state.
“I urge you to take the skill acquisition training very seriously as well as participate actively in all camp activities and programmes,”
The Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe advised the corps members to see their posting to Rivers as a rare privilege and the best opportunity for self-discovery and improvement.

Oleghe appreciated the governor for donating of 2,500 mattresses for corps members usage, noting that the state is now the preferred destination of corps members nationwide.
“I appreciate the people of the state, security agencies, leaders of the host communities, transport union executives among other critical stakeholders for their unwavering support to the NYSC and corps members,”.
A total of 3, 512 corps members made up of , 572 males and 1,940 females were sworn in at the ceremony by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, represented by Justice Prince Mini.
