The Lagos State Command and Control Centre has sought a strategic media partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to strengthen public information management in the state.

The General Manager of the centre, Mr Femi Giwa, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to NAN’s Lagos Directorate on Wednesday.

Giwa described NAN as Nigeria’s foremost national news platform, capable of amplifying the centre’s voice across the country.

He said accurate and timely information dissemination during emergencies was critical to preventing rumours and ensuring public calm.

According to him, the command centre serves as the nucleus of emergency response coordination in Lagos State.

He noted that the centre coordinates multi-agency responses and manages the state’s emergency toll-free lines, 767 and 112.

“The Command and Control Centre is the central hub where emergency response begins and ends in Lagos,” he said.

Giwa explained that the facility provides situational awareness through advanced communication infrastructure.

He added that the partnership with NAN would help promote the emergency numbers and improve public awareness across communities.

“We are partners in progress when it comes to public information management,” Giwa said.

Earlier, the Managing Editor and Head of Lagos Editorial Operations, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, said the agency had an extensive nationwide network.

Omowole said NAN maintained district offices across the country, including hard-to-reach communities, ensuring nationwide coverage.

She assured the delegation of the agency’s commitment to fair, balanced and factual reporting.

Omowole added that NAN remained dedicated to amplifying credible voices and fostering beneficial institutional partnerships.

NAN reports that the highlight of the visit was the exchange of gifts by both agencies.
