The Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Nigerian Navy, Badagry, Lagos on Friday handed over 143 bags of seized foreign rice to Nigeria Customs Service in Badagry.
The Commanding Officer, FOB, Navy Capt. SM Kabir disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.
The Commanding Officer said that in line with the NN’s sustained operations against smuggling, human trafficking and other cross-border crimes within its Area of Operations, the FOB BADAGRY had continued to record notable operational success.
“Through targeted intelligence-driven operations along the Panshi-Ijofin Creek and adjoining waterways, the has intercepted contraband items suspected to be intended for illegal trade.
“During patrols along the Panshi-Ijofin Creek and adjoining waterways, personnel of NN FOB, Badagry intercepted a total of 143 bags of foreign parboiled rice suspected to have been smuggled into Nigeria,” he said.
Capt. Kabir said that in line with extant regulations and NN Standard Operating Procedures, the seized items were formally handed over to Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command on Friday, Aug. 2026.
According to him, the handover took place at about 11.00a.m, at the Base Jetty.
“The sustained operations and seamless handover demonstrate the Nigerian Navy ‘s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, national economic, security and the protection of legitimately maritime activities.
“FOB Badagry will continue to maintain an effective operational posture against criminal activities within its Area of Operations.
“The Base encourages members of the public to provide credible information to support efforts towards securing the nation’s maritime domain,” he said.
