Nestlé Nigeria PLC has taken a significant leap forward in its flagship Water Regeneration Project, officially commissioning a new cluster of climate-smart boreholes and water treatment facilities within the Agbara catchment, Ogun State.
Designed to link community impact with long-term watershed resilience, the initiative addresses clean water access comprehensively.
Beyond the physical infrastructure—which spans 24 boreholes across Agbara and Abaji (FCT), the project integrates rigorous water quality testing, rainwater harvesting for conservation, and robust local governance through trained community WASH committees.
Olutayo Olatunji, Business Executive Officer for Nestlé Waters and Premium Beverages, highlighted the dual focus on infrastructure and local accountability: “By combining treated water infrastructure with local governance and performance monitoring, we are creating a model that improves access, strengthens watershed resilience, and delivers enduring value.”

The project has earned high praise from federal and traditional leaders.
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, and the Honourable Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, both commended the initiative as a benchmark for public-private collaboration that directly advances Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).
Representing the host community, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Lukman Jayeola Agunbiade, Olute III, the Alagbara of Agbara Kingdom, urged residents to act as steadfast custodians: “Safe water touches every part of our lives… What has been started here today, Agbara will sustain for our children and for generations yet unborn.”
As remaining sites in Abaji reach completion, Nestlé Nigeria remains committed to disciplined delivery, transparent validation, and empowering communities to protect these vital water resources for the future.
