The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has congratulated Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) President, Mrs Olabisi Temitope Joseph, after she won election as President of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Africa.
NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, described Joseph’s victory as well deserved.
He said she earned the position through years of hard work and commitment to school sports.
Joseph won the election on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, during the 2026 ISF General Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia.
A total of 82 countries attended the assembly, while delegates cast 79 votes.
First African Woman to Hold Office
Meanwhile, the election makes Joseph the first woman in Africa and the first female in the history of the International School Sport Federation to lead ISF Africa.
The NOC said the achievement reflects Nigeria’s growing leadership and influence in school sports across Africa and the wider world.
Gumel, however, congratulated Joseph on behalf of the Olympic Movement in Nigeria. He wished her a successful and memorable tenure in office.
