The Director Media of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Chief Julian Mgbemena has intimated corps members that their one year national service is a journey of nation-building which must be taken seriously and made best-of.

Mgbemena stated this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers state during an official visit to the 2026 Batch B Stream I corps members deployed to the state.

The DIrector reminded them that the measure of growth and success of any individual is largely dependent on the quality of the friends he or she keeps.

“I charge you to build quality and enduring friendship across ethnic and tribal lines, as well as religion.

“You should be disciplined, patriotic, security conscious, hardworking, and determined to succeed in life,”.

He charged the corps members not to engage in frivolous travels but remain at their places of primary assignment.

“You should acquire relevant skills packaged by the NYSC SAED.”

The Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe informed the director that the corps members have demonstrated character traits that portray hope of a better country tomorrow.

“This is if they sustain the discipline and high sense of responsibility exhibited since their arrival to camp,”.

“I appreciate you for the choice of Rivers as the camp to visit and assurel that my leadership would continue being focused and committed to fulfill the mandate of making the scheme’s management proud.

“This is through diligent and excellent discharge of his duties,”
