Nsukka, Nigeria – Amb. Ejike Eze, a retired Career Diplomat and former Senior Special Assistant on Protocols and Security to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, says Nsukka people have abundant human and natural resources to run Adada State if created.
Eze who hails from Enugu North Senatorial District (known as Nsukka zone), said this in Nsukka on Tuesday.
He was reacting to a Senate Committee recommendation for the creation of 12 states, including Adada.
He said Nsukka people have enough manpower and natural resources to make Adada State the most productive and viable state in the country.
“Agitation for the creation of Adada State remains the oldest in the country as it started since 1971.
“Nsukka people have abundant human and natural resources to run the state and make it the most productive and viable in the country.
“Our added advantage is that we speak the same language, have the same culture and tradition which makes us homogeneous and will help immensely in the smooth running of Adada State if created,” he said.
Eze, also the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Enugu North Senatorial District in 2023 general elections, noted that the district has over 50 per cent population of Enugu State, and that makes it decide who becomes the governor of the state during elections.
The career diplomat urged political parties in Enugu State to always ensure that the state Chairmen of their political parties come from the district to enable them to win during general elections.
“Nobody wins governorship election in Enugu State without the consent of Nsukka people as a result of their huge population and voting strength,” he said.
Eze alleged that Enugu State APC had not been fair to members from Enugu North Senatorial District in terms of appointments.
“In the interest of fairness, equity and justice, APC in the state should remember members from the district as well as ensure that the next APC state chairman comes from Enugu North Senatorial District,” he said.
On the 2027 general elections, the party Chieftain said he is still consulting whether to contest for a senate position again.
