Onyeme Charges President-Generals Of Communities To Work Amicably With Traditional Rulers

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has charged President-Generals of communities to work amicably with their Kings.

The Deputy Governor gave the charge on Thursday in Asaba when he met with the Ovie of Uzere Kingdom, HRM Isaac Udogri and his subjects.

According to him, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to peaceful co-existence in all parts of the state and President-Generals of communities should work harmoniously with their Kings.

“Let us maintain the peace, this government is a government of peace, we do not want problems in any of our communities,” the Deputy Governor said.

He urged the Ovie of Uzere Kingdom, HRM Udogri to instill in his subjects the need to avoid anything that could lead to breakdown of law and order saying, “you will agree with me Your Majesty that your community, Uzere, is becoming persistent community that is always having issues and that is not good for Your Majesty, it is not good for your Kingdom and it is not good for you as a person.

“So, you should do everything that is possible to bring down tempers, to bring peace and to maintain law and order in your Kingdom.

“As a Royal Father, you are a father to everyone, if there is crisis between the old and new executive committee of your community, as a father it is your duty to see how you amicably resolve it, take everybody in your Kingdom as your child, your subject.”

He noted that the executive committee of the kingdom has one year to serve before another election is conducted.

Some of those who attended the meeting include Chief Askia Ogeah, High Chief Iduh Amadhe, among others.

In a related development, the Deputy Governor also met with the people of Emevor Community in Isoko North Local Government Area where he urged them to always engage in activities that will deepen peaceful co-existence among them.
