The Turaki-led PDP ratified former president Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election on Saturday.

Consequently, the group changed its convention venue after the police barred members from accessing the A-Class Hotel in Abuja.

Police officers barricaded all access roads to the initial event centre using multiple vans.

Furthermore, the blockade prevented both PDP members and other road users from passing through the Wuse and Maitama axis.

This disruption forced the party to shift its plans to secure the ratification processes.

Meanwhile, the event lasted less than 20 minutes as party members finalized the process.

Fred Agbedi, a close ally of the former president, accepted the certificate on his behalf.

In addition, other prominent figures attended the event, including Prof. Jerry Gana, Tanimu Turaki, and Adolphus Wabara.

They all confirmed Jonathan as the sole candidate following his earlier clearance by the screening committee.

Furthermore, the Babangida Aliyu-led committee officially announced Jonathan’s emergence on Tuesday. This followed the formal conclusion of the party’s screening exercise.
