President Julius Maada Bio has been sworn in as the president of Sierra Leone after the Election Commission declared him re-elected.

According to the final results of Sierra Leone’s on Jun 24, 2023 Presidential Election announced by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), the incumbent President Julius Maada Bio of ruling SLPP was re-elected with:1,566,932 votes or 56 percent of the valid votes cast.

Eleven other candidates received combined vote of less than three per cent.

A candidate required 55 percent of valid votes to win the first round, otherwise, the two frontrunners will go into run-off vote, which is unnecessary in this case going by the ECSL announcement.
