The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt International Airport (RC PHIA), led by its President, Rtn. Ngozi Vivienne Onyeanwuna, has donated 20 child – birthing tools to two different communities within the airport as part of its transformed commitment to maternal and child healthcare into tangible action.
The two communities healthcare centres visited are, RC PHIA Ipo and Omagwa, which benefited 10 child birthing tools each connected directly with pregnant women and nursing mothers.
With its ‘theme, ‘Every mother matters, every child matters, and every life is worth investing in’ Rtn Onyeanwuna said the project aligns with Rotary International’s Maternal and Child Health Area of Focus, one of the Seven Areas of Focus for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year, bringing Rotary’s global humanitarian vision directly into the lives of families within the airport’s host communities.
She said the outreach was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the AM/RGM, Port Harcourt International Airport, Mrs. Ezike Ifesinachi, whose magnanimity and passion for humanitarian service continues to inspire meaningful interventions that touch lives.

She noted that the impact goes beyond the individual beneficiaries adding that the tools will support better hygiene, safer childcare practices and improved maternal and newborn wellbeing, while strengthening community awareness that healthy mothers and children are the foundation of strong communities.
Matrons of both healthcare centres commended RC PHIA for the humanitarian feat, noting that the tools would go a long way in helping mothers maintain good hygiene in caring for their children.
For RC PHIA, this was not simply a donation. It was a statement of partnership—a demonstration that the people of Ipo and Omagwa are seen, valued and worthy of meaningful investment.
