The Immediate Past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi state, Hon. Charles Akpu-Enika has said that President Bola Tinubu through the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi is providing succour to Nigerians through master-class road infrastructure.
Akpu-Enika made the assertion in an interview on Tuesday while reacting to the state of the Enugu-Onitsha Federal Highway which is being reconstructed by the Federal Government.
The former commissioner said he was hugely impressed with the standard of work on the road, a testament of Umahi’s ingenuity in practicalising President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the area of road infrastructure.
“Since I was young, that road has been in a deplorable condition, claiming many lives and hindering economic activities that it was supposed to enhance.
“Successive administrations tried but failed to remedy the situation and the people of south stringently agitated for its reconstruction.
“The road at a point became the stand-point of agitation on marginalisation of the South East as it serves as the connecting link between it, the south south, south west and northern parts of the country,.”
He noted that President Tinubu took the gauntlet by reconstructing the road and practically showed that he is indeed a friend of the Igbos.
“After so much talks, stories and unending speculation, the Enugu Onitsha highway has become a reality before our eyes.
“President Tinubu has done what other presidents have not done and passing through the road consistently, I feel deeply assured and gratified that truly, Igbos have stake in this country.
“The wonderful turnaround of the Eke Obinagu flyover is also a testament of Umahi’s ingenuity and Tinubu’s commitment to give Ndigbo, a pride of place in the country.
“Tinubu’s confidence and belief in Umahi has paid off as the professor of infrastructure has shown the world that the wonders he wrought in Ebonyi as governor, was no fluke.”
Akpu-Enika urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu and believe that he came to right age-long wrongs.
“These are difficult moments in the annals of the country but the man on the saddle has what it takes to get things right.
“We need to support the president in prayers to ensure that he achieves the dreams of our founding fathers to keep the country one.
“The ingenuity of the president’s lieutenants such as Umahi would surely ensure the dream of a better Nigeria for all.”
