Security: CP Itam remodels policing plan in Anambra

Awka, May 29, 2024 – Mr Nnaghe Itam, Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, has engaged key police officers of the Command on a new model of policing to enhance effectiveness.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, disclosed this to journalists in Awka.

He quoted Itam as saying that the modification of the policing plan of the state Command is key to tracking down criminals in the state.

He said as he takes briefs from the 8 Area Commanders, 53 Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and Sectional Heads of the Command, the new plan is pivotal to crime prevention.

This new policing plan is Intelligent-driven, technologically-Supportive, and Tactical in Operation to achieve disruptive result in the security control of the state.

He said that the aim to review the policing plan and provide a new guide in some areas in personnel positioning is to achieve timely response to security service requests of Anambra residents.

Itam directed Officers to advance a strategy of community policing principles, anchored on mutual trust, understanding and partnership with the public, to dominate their area of responsibility in enhancing safety and maintaining public order.

The CP also reiterated that the command, under his watch, would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel and emphasised the need for Officers to show competence, good Character, and Courage in the discharge of their duties.

Itam restated that his administration is poised to operate an all-inclusive policing system by listening to everyone.

He encouraged anyone, who wants to help the command, to volunteer credible information.

Itam assured that any useful information received will be treated with all confidentiality.
