The South-South Zone of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) wholeheartedly congratulated former vice-president Atiku Abubakar for securing the party’s presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections, following a keenly contested and transparent primary election involving distinguished party leaders, Rotimi Amaechi and Muhammed Hayatu-Deen.
The outcome of the primary election once again demonstrates the ADC’s firm commitment to internal democracy, fairness, inclusiveness, and the rule of law.
The conduct of delegates, party officials, aspirants, and stakeholders throughout the exercise reflected the maturity and democratic culture that have become hallmarks of our great party.
In the words of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the presidential primary was “a landmark democratic moment, not only for the party but also for Nigerians seeking a credible political alternative.”
He further stated:
“At the end of this exercise, there will be no winners or losers within the ADC family.
Our ultimate objective is to emerge stronger, more united, and fully prepared to provide Nigerians with the competent and credible leadership they deserve.”
Oboh acknowledged that the ADC South-South Zone fully aligns with this position. As one united family, we believe that the primary election has strengthened rather than divided our party. We therefore commend all aspirants for their sportsmanship, patriotism, and commitment to the collective vision of building a better Nigeria through the ADC platform.
We particularly acknowledge the contributions of all contestants whose participation enriched the democratic process and showcased the depth of leadership talent within the party.
Their ideas, campaigns, and engagement have further positioned the ADC as the foremost platform for national renewal and transformative governance.
As agreed by the ADC family, the South-South Zone is fully prepared to work tirelessly with our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the National Working Committee, state chapters, elected officials, youth and women leaders, and all stakeholders to deliver victory for the party in 2027.
The South-South remains one of the strongest pillars of the ADC’s expanding national movement. We are confident that, under the leadership of our presidential flagbearer and with the support of Nigerians across all regions, the party will present a compelling vision capable of restoring public confidence, promoting economic prosperity, strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring national unity, and providing the competent, credible leadership Nigerians desire.
We call on all party members, supporters, coalition partners, and well-meaning Nigerians to rally behind our candidate and join the ADC in building a nation founded on justice, opportunity, security, accountability, and inclusive development.
