The Catholic Women Organisation of Saints Timothy and Titus Catholic Church, Isheri Osun, a suburb of Lagos State, on Saturday defeated their male counterpart in the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) by two goals to nothing.

The novelty match which took place at the church field was organised as part of activities to mark the 2023 Mother’s Day.

The women, old and young, abandoned their businesses and their comfort to display their hidden talents on the field.

Commenting on the victory, Mrs Francesca Udoye, President of the CWO, said that the victory of the CWO was well deserved.

Udoye said that the women played better game in other years.

“It was a joyful moment for everyone, and the women also used it as a forum to exercise their bodies.

“Our women were so happy and excited at the victory over the men,” Udoye said.

She added that the match created a relaxation atmosphere for the women of the church, and improved unity and bonding among them.

The two goals were scored by Mrs Ohakim.

Reacting to the victory of the women, one of the skippers in the CMO, Mr ifeanyi Ogbodo, said that it was a decision of the men group to allow the women to win the match.

Ogbodo said that since the event was part of the celebration of the mothers’ Day it would be unfair for the women to be defeated.

The climax of the gain was the presentation of the trophy to the CWO.
