Nigeria is advancing the implementation of Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) connectivity with the ASECNA Flight Information Regions to improve safe and seamless air navigation across West and Central Africa.

The President of the National Air Traffic Communicators’ Association of Nigeria (NACAN) and General Overseer of the Aeronautical Communications Department, Alhaji Rabiu Sani, said the project covers Cotonou, Lome, Douala, Libreville, Malabo, Niamey, Brazzaville and ND’jamena.

Sani spoke at the 5th Ordinary Congress of FAPETEL in Dakar, Senegal.

He said the Nigerian Airspace remains committed under the leadership of Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, the Managing Director/Chief Executive, to working closely with ASECNA and other African partners.

He said the partnership will drive technical discussions on AMHS IP connectivity, system configuration, interoperability testing and implementation schedules.

He added that the effort will ensure smooth and safe air navigation services across the region.

Sani described the two-day congress, themed Strengthening Competencies in Aeronautical Telecommunication: Training the Experts of Tomorrow, as timely. He said the future of aviation depends on skilled professionals, modern technology and stronger regional cooperation.

Sani thanked the organisers for the invitation.

He also congratulated them on hosting the congress and wished delegates fruitful deliberations.
