-The Dr Innocent Unah Solidarity Movement for Nwifuru on Monday urged the opposition in Ebonyi to acknowledge Gov. Francis Nwifuru’s developmental imprints.
The Founder of the group, Dr Innocent Unah made the call in an interview in Abakaliki, insisting that politics should go with acknowleding efforts made to develop a state or country.
Unah said that though the Nwifuru administration has areas to improve upon, it has made appreciable impact which has pushed the state upwards the developmental trajectory.
He noted that Nwifuru gave education for instance, an aggressive treatment with massive interventions in the Ebonyi State University (EBSU) the state College of Education among other institution’s.
“The governor enhanced infrastructure in the institutions, increased staff salaries, increased subventions among other interventions which promote academic excellence.
“”304 Ebonyi indigenes are currently studying in the United Kingdom for their Masters and Doctorate Degree programmes while over 1, 000 others are pursuing same programmes in universities across Nigeria.”
“The governor has employed over 1,500 teachers to teach in public primary and secondary schools across the state to improve reaching in schools and generally enhance quality of education,.”
The support group coordinator said that in Agriculture, the governor has revatalised the state chemical and fertiliser company making it produce at optimal capacity.
“The state government has also procured over 3,800 farm equipments distributed to farmers for mass productiion of farm produce.
“The state feed mill and processing centres are reshaping rural value chain as they represent efforts to raise the marginal product of labour for employment.
“The government has collaborated with agencies such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) assisted Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) to enhance the production, processing and marketing of rice and cassava.”
Unah said the governor has performed creditably in infrastructure with several kilometres of urban and rural roads completed with others, at various completion stages.
“The Vanco junction flyover in Abakaliki is an architectural masterpiece that is poised to become a civic symbol of traffic solution.
“The University of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Oferekpe, the University of Aerospace Engineering among others, are signposts designed to place Ebonyi.among infrastructural pillars of the country.”
He noted that the governor has also made impactful strides in
human empowerment, youth development, sports, health, commerce, among other sectors.
“This is the reason we are supporting him for a second tenure to consolidate on his gains in office.
“A second tenure will also enable him correct areas of deficiency and this is in the overall interest of the state.”
