THE GRAVEDIGGER WHO FELL INTO HIS OWN PIT: ONE ONOVUGHE IGWE’S POST IS THE APC’S SIGNED CONFESSION

By Aare Amerijoye DOT.B

Read it once and you will laugh. Read it twice and you will stop laughing. Read it a third time and you will realise you are holding a confession.

One Onovughe Igwe set out to bury Atiku Abubakar. He sharpened every word, polished every insult, and fired. Every arrow turned around in mid flight and landed in the chest of the APC.

We will not leave one line unanswered. Count by count, we hand his words back to him.

“ATIKU IS BROKE… OBI IS BROKE”

Then explain the inheritance.

Six paragraphs after declaring Atiku broke, he imagines Atiku’s son begging his father not to spend “their inheritance”. A broke man leaves no inheritance worth guarding. One Onovughe Igwe could not keep his own lie standing for six paragraphs.

Let him also explain 2015. When the APC set out to remove a sitting President, Atiku Abubakar was assigned 7 states in the campaign for Muhammadu Buhari. Aside his support to the then presidential candidate, he committed more than 7 billion naira of his own resources to mobilisation in those states: structures, logistics, rallies, agents. 5 of the 7 voted Buhari. When the government was formed, Atiku did not nominate a single minister.

He did it because he believed the APC would make life meaningful for ordinary Nigerians. Then he watched the party derail, abandon its principles and the responsibilities it owed the people, and surrender, uncontrollably, to greed and selfishness. So he did what men of conviction do. He walked out in 2017, leaving behind every claim he could have made on the government he helped install.

The APC kept the benefit. Atiku kept his principles. That is the “broke” man.

And let him tell the people of Yola. Atiku built the American University of Nigeria with his own money and kept it open through the insurgency while it fed displaced people in their hundreds of thousands. Broke men do not build universities. They write Facebook posts.

He calls Atiku broke. The man mobilised 7 states for Buhari from his own pocket and asked for nothing in return. Ask the APC if it remembers.

“RUNNING A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS NOT FOR KIDS… NIGERIA HAS ALMOST 200,000 POLLING UNITS”

Agreed, it is not for kids. So let us check the grown man’s arithmetic.

INEC says 176,846 polling units. He has conjured more than 23,000 out of the air. Twenty three thousand ghosts. We will let Nigerians ask what a party does with polling units that exist only in its imagination.

He says elections are not for kids. Then he miscounts the polling units by 23,000. The child in this story is holding the pen.

“ATIKU HAD AGENTS IN 2023 BECAUSE POWERFUL NIGER DELTA GOVERNORS WERE BACKING HIM”

This is a lie, and the most cowardly kind: a lie told about men who can stand up and contradict it.

Not one South South governor has ever said he paid Atiku’s polling agents across the federation. Not one. And none can. No governor bankrolled Atiku Abubakar. No godfather picks up Atiku’s bills.

Look at the South South in 2023. The most powerful governor in the zone, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, led the G5 rebellion against Atiku and threw the Rivers machine behind Tinubu. Cross River had an APC governor, Ben Ayade, campaigning for Tinubu. The two biggest government houses he would point to were working on his own side.

And Atiku’s agents stood in polling units in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Gombe, Yobe, Taraba and Kano, a thousand kilometres from any Niger Delta Government House. No governor in Asaba or Uyo was paying for agents in Birnin Kebbi. That was Atiku’s own network, built over three decades, ward by ward.

Let One Onovughe Igwe bring back a single South South governor willing to sign his name under that claim. We will wait.

No South South governor can say he sponsored Atiku. One Onovughe Igwe said it for them, without asking them. That is not analysis. That is forgery.

“MAKINDE IS GETTING A FRESH 100 BILLION NAIRA LOAN… I WILL TAKE MY SHARE ON BEHALF OF 5 VOTES FROM DELTA STATE”

Read that slowly. A loan taken in the name of Oyo children becomes, in his mind, loot to be shared. And his own people of Delta are priced in fives, like crayfish in a basin.

This is not a joke. It is a business model: public debt in, private share out, votes bought with the change. It is the same greed that drove Atiku out of the APC in 2017, now typed out proudly by one of its foot soldiers.

“SOWORE’S DONORS FLED… DONORS SEE ATIKU AND OBI LIKE MMM”

Look at what he measures. Not ideas, not records, not the hunger of the people. Naira per vote. To him a candidate is a fundraising spreadsheet and a voter is a unit cost.

And MMM? Nigerians know the real scheme. It took their fuel subsidy away in a single inaugural sentence, promised the savings would come back as roads, wages and food, and has never given the people a full account of where that money went. The scheme that collected and did not pay out is not in the ADC. It is in the Villa.

“GOODWILL WILL BRING VOTERS BUT WON’T GUARANTEE VICTORY… BUHARI LEARNT THIS 3 TIMES BEFORE TINUBU PUMPED IN MONEY”

Here is the confession at the heart of the post.

Nobody pretends elections are free. Rallies cost money. Transporting agents to 176,846 polling units costs money. Printing and logistics cost money. That is mobilisation, and every serious campaign on earth does it in the open.

But that is not what One Onovughe Igwe described. He described money as the thing that decides when the voters alone could not. He described taking a “share” of a state loan on behalf of 5 votes. That is not mobilisation. That is purchase. One carries the voter to the polling unit. The other buys him at the gate.

In confessing it, he has spat on Buhari’s 15,424,921 votes in 2015, telling every farmer in Daura and every widow in Maiduguri who queued in the sun that her vote was decoration. And he has rewritten history: 2015 did not rest on one man’s resources. The man he now mocks as broke carried 7 states of it.

The APC does not believe in you. It believes in your price. Atiku spends to carry the voter to the polls. The APC, by its own confession, spends to buy him.

“I PITY PA ATIKU… HIS SON ABANDONED HIM FOR TINUBU”

Abba Abubakar joined the APC in January 2026. Atiku answered like a democrat and a father: entirely personal, neither unusual nor alarming. No tantrum. No disowning.

Now look at what the APC did. It took the young man’s group, the Haske Atiku Organisation, and renamed it the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation. The ruling party, with federal might and the national treasury, could not build its own structure in Adamawa. So it borrowed one with Atiku’s name on it and repainted the signboard.

Keep the pity. Give it to the party reduced to stealing its rival’s signboard and parading his son as a trophy.

“MORE POLITICIANS WILL ABANDON HIM… THE TINUBU CAMP IS FILLED TO THE BRIM”

In 2023 Atiku won Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Yobe and Gombe, five states with sitting APC governors pulling every lever for Tinubu. Five governors. Five defeats. And Tinubu lost Lagos, his fortress since 1999, with his own governor in Alausa. Governors do not own voters. Hunger does not check a governor’s party card before it walks to the polling unit.

As for the brim, Nigerians remember the boast of a former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole: once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven. That is what fills the boat. Not voters. Men running from their own records, looking for a dry corner. Atiku helped build that boat in 2015 and stepped off it in 2017 when he saw where greed was steering it.

A boat filled to the brim is not strength. It is the last thing you see before it goes under.

“PAT UTOMI, KENNETH OKONKWO, AISHA YESUFU HAVE NEVER WON A POLLING UNIT”

Neither has One Onovughe Igwe. Citizens do not need a certificate of return to speak in a democracy. And if winning your own ground is the test, let him first explain how his principal lost Lagos.

“TINUBU SHOULD SET ASIDE SMALL THING FOR OBI AND ATIKU… THEY WATCH LIKE MONKEYS SEEING RIPE BANANAS”

Hear the mindset: the treasury as one man’s wallet, the opposition as beggars at his gate, the commonwealth as bananas for the ruling party to eat. And the monkeys, in his picture, are the millions of citizens who did not vote for his principal. That is how the APC sees you.

Atiku Abubakar has never stood at any man’s gate. He mobilised 7 states to bring the APC to power and did not even ask for a ministerial slot. He has only ever opened his own gate.

“IDLE MIND IS THE DEVIL’S WORKSHOP… THE KADUNA GOVERNOR CAN SPEND 2.4 TRILLION NAIRA TO HOST TINUBU”

This is where the post detonates in his hands. His figure. His allegation. His words.

The Kaduna governor is Senator Uba Sani of the APC, whom Tinubu has since made Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Director-General of his campaign. So, on the testimony of an APC propagandist, a governor in Tinubu’s innermost circle poured four years of his people’s revenue into one presidential visit. Four years of schools, clinics and roads. Gone on a reception.

And whom does he blame? The “idle” opposition. The opposition did not sign one cheque in Kaduna. The devil’s workshop he described has an APC signboard over the door.

“UPPER IWEKA ADVISERS… CROWDS BECOME AI IMAGES… HUNGER MAKES THEM HALLUCINATE”

Upper Iweka is the commercial heart of Onitsha, where Nigerians who built businesses from nothing feed families across the federation. He uses it as an insult. Those traders can read. They will reply with their thumbs.

A confident party does not need to call its opponent’s crowds fake. Only a frightened one does.

And hunger. In a country where hunger is the one thing this government has produced in surplus, the APC has made it a punchline. Tell that to the mother rationing garri in Aba, the labourer in Kano who has learnt to skip lunch, the pensioner in Makurdi counting coins at the chemist’s counter. To One Onovughe Igwe they are “wailers” too impatient to collect sense. To us, each of them is the employer of every politician in this country, and on 16 January 2027 they will conduct the interview.

They will meet a candidate who has placed his plans before them in advance, in the Atiku Economic Recovery Plan, for them to examine and own: savings that reach the people who bore the pain, production at home instead of importation, and government that accounts for every naira it takes. That is what Atiku offers the hungry. The APC offers them jokes.

“BETTER TO BE BORN A THIEF THAN TO BE BORN A MUMU… PROVERBS ARE NOT FOR KIDS”

He is right. Proverbs are for those wise enough to find themselves in them.

A thief hides the loot. This man has published the inventory. He has confessed that his party believes money, not voters, decides elections; that public loans are private shares; that votes come in fives; that a governor in Tinubu’s inner circle burned four years of Kaduna’s revenue on one visit; and that Nigerian hunger is a comedy. He has forged the testimony of South South governors. And he has erased the man who mobilised 7 states to bring his party to power, before greed and selfishness drove him out of it.

A thief hides what he took. The APC propagandist printed the receipt, signed it, and posted it on Facebook.

If that is not the mumu of the Urhobo proverb, the proverb has no meaning.

Eighty three days remain until 16 January 2027. Atiku Abubakar will answer with the one thing the APC creed cannot buy, cannot rename and cannot repaint: the Nigerian who has suffered enough, standing in a queue, holding a ballot that is not for sale.

To One Onovughe Igwe, thank you. You have done our work for us.
