Tiger Lager Beer has announced a N10 million prize pool for its Tiger Street Football Tournament scheduled to hold on Saturday at NewBerris Lounge, Awka, Anambra State.

Mrs. Maria Shaddeko, Portfolio Manager, Tiger Premium Brand, disclosed this while briefing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter.

“The stakes are high and exciting. The winning team will receive N5 million, while N3 million, N1 million, and N1 million have been set aside for the second, third and fourth positions respectively,” she said.

Shaddeko revealed that in the semi-final fixtures of the 5-a-side competition, Sunday Sparks will face Peace Warriors, while Peace Dominion will take on Peace Ambassadors.

According to her, the maiden edition of the tournament is aimed at unleashing the fearless and uncaged energy of young, non-professional footballers, celebrating their raw passion and love for the game.

She explained that the Tiger Street Football Tournament, sponsored by Tiger Premium Lager, is focused on discovering and nurturing raw talents from the streets.

According to her, it will give them a platform to develop their skills and share their stories beyond the pitch.

“The tournament is open to non-professional players — students, amateurs, hustlers, dreamers and Sunday-Sunday entertainers, anyone who plays the game out of pure love,” she said.

Shaddeko added that beyond competition and prizes, the event will offer a lively atmosphere with entertainment, cultural displays and tourism experiences; making it a true celebration of street football culture.
