Ministers of Transport and Marine and Blue Economy have been confirmed for the 2025 Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) summit holding on Wednesday Sept. 24.
The summit is an annual forum for all transport industry major players, regulators, and other stakeholders to brainstorm on burning national issues and collectively proffer workable solutions.
This would be the second edition of the summit, which was kick-started in 2024 amidst excitement and endorsement from stakeholders.
The second edition has as its theme, “Driving the Transport Logistics Value Chains for Economic Growth”.
Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr Kayode Opeifa will deliver a keynote address with a panel of discussants featuring topics like: Intermodal cargo evacuation from the ports, benefits and challenges; Waterways Transportation Code and challenges of enforcement.
Other topics are 100 years of aviation in Nigeria: Gains and missed opportunities; and maritime insecurity, effects, implications on trade route.
Other agencies and stakeholders participating in the summit are the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), Dangote Industries Limited, Trucks Transit Park (TTP), among others.
Speaking on the conference, the Chairman of TCAN, Mr Tola Adenubi commended the interest and the commitment shown by the stakeholders towards the success of the event.
“We are thrilled by the interest this summit has generated and we are convinced that the summit will galvanise actions towards addressing the challenges of Nigeria’s transport logistics value chain.
“For Nigeria’s transportation to evolve all stakeholders must come together, speak with one voice to optimise the opportunities in our transportation system.
“Whether as an operator, regulator or investigator, all players are relevant stakeholders in driving the logistics value chain to improve the living standards of Nigerias,” he said.
He advised stakeholders, especially organisations and companies in the transportation industry, to take advantage of the summit in show-casing their organisations efforts and roles in the nations logistics chain development.
TCAN is made up of journalists from the major national newspapers, TV, and online media platforms covering the transport sector. It is also a subgroup of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
