UNN hosts Int’l conference on clean, emerging energy

Nsukka, Nigeria – The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), plans to organize an international conference on clean and emerging energy technologies.

To be hosted by UNN’s Sustainable, Clean and Emerging Energy Technologies research Group (SCEET-G), the conference will hold from July 21 to 26, 2024, at Nsukka, with the theme; “Clean Energy Systems for Sustainable Power and Environment”.

Speaking on plans for the conference at Nsukka on Thursday, Prof. Edmund Okoroigwe, the coordinator of the research group, said over 100 participants across the globe, would attend physically or virtually.

He noted that it would provide collaborative opportunities to network and share knowledge on clean energy technologies development and utilisation.

Okoroigwe, who is a professor of mechanical engineering, said that the
conference will be organised in collaboration with National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

“It will bring together researchers, academics, industrialists, government, stakeholders, and investors, in clean energy systems to network, collaborate, and discuss new frontiers to solving global and local energy problems.

“Clean energy system is energy that emits zero carbon and without any environmental pollution,” he said.

Okoroigwe announced that Mr. Khalil Sulaman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI, will chair the occasion.

He listed Prof. Mohammed Ndaliman, Managing Director, Science Equipment Development Institute, Minna, (SEDI-M), Niger State, Prof. Ahmed Zobaa, Brunel University London, United Kingdom, Prof. Roula Inglesl-Lotz, Department of Economics, University of Pretoria, South Africa, and Mrs Damilola Aseleye, Vice President, Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, among Keynote Speakers.

He expressed optimism that the outcome of the conference would contribute immensely to solving energy challenges globally.
