The Governing Council of the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), has dismissed insinuations making the rounds in some quarters that there is an administrative rift in the institution.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of DUFUHS Governing Council Barr. Adebayo Shittu debunked the insinuation on Wednesday while briefing newsmen at the institution.

Shittu, a Former Minister of Communications, described the insinuations as false and misleading, noting that there was no crisis between the governing council and the university management,.

The governing council’s chairman said that the university operates smoothly and was totally focussed on its academic mandate.

“I have no complaint against anybody and nobody has sidelined me. Such claims are baseless, and my decades of experience in public service make such a situation unlikely..

” DUFUHS currently offers 17 medical courses and maintains a stable academic environment with students and staff operating without disruption.

“I therefore urge the media and public to disregard negative reports, as they are attempts by unnamed individuals to create unnecessary tension.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Jesse Uneke, said that the governing council was at the institution for its statutory meeting, as there was no dysfunction.

Uneke said that council was meeting in the glare of all as the university remains stable both academically and administratively.

“The ongoing infrastructural development in the institution reflects the effective oversight of the council.

“I encourage stakeholders to verify information through official channels than sourcing such through unconfirmed reports.”

A Member of the Governing Council, Barri. Saliou Aluko reaffirmed that the council operates independently and conducts meetings in line with established procedures.

“The insinuations that the council has been hijacked is totally untrue.”

A Representative of the Federal Ministry of Education on the council, Paul Okpe, also dismissed the claims, noting that the council and management work harmoniously.
