The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, has pledged to adopt revolutionary measures to address environmental challenges in the state.

Wahab said that his quest for an improved, sustainable environment requires a scientific approach that is devoid of the ‘business as usual format.

The commissioner made the disclosure at a maiden management meeting of the ministry.

He charged all the directors in the ministry to be intentional and resolute in changing the negative narratives about the environment.

Wahab traced part of the issues of the Lagos environment to a dislocation of policies which he noted required concerted efforts on the part of all stakeholders to be corrected.

He urged all the departmental heads to think out of the box as they confront the tasks of managing a megacity with over 20 million residents and still counting.

He said that a robust relationship must be formed by the ministry with all its agencies to ensure synchronisation with the ‘Themes Plus’ agenda of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu: administration.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser, Mr Olakunle Rotimi- Akodu said that there was still more to be done by the departmental heads in achieving environmental sustainability.

Rotimi-Akiodu said that he is committed to leveraging his experience at the local government level on the environmental sector in the State.

The meeting also had in attendance the Special Adviser on Environment, Mr Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu and the two Permanent Secretaries, Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen and Olalekan Shodeinde.
