Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has charged Corps Members to display impeccable integrity and credibility as they play visible, active and pivotal roles in the conduct of 2027 general elections.
Fubara stated this at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, Local Government Area (LGA) during the closing ceremony of 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to the state.
The governor represented by the Director of Administraton, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Rachel Ayasuk-Dandy, advised the corps members to discharge their Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad-hoc duties with good conscience and fearless moral uprightness.
“This is to live up to the expectations of Nigerians and the scheme’s management.
“You should integrate seamlessly with the people of your host community and share their values, vision and aspirations to be relevant and outstanding.”
He assured the corps members of their welfare and security, further advising them to be beacons of hope to the people and good ambassadors of the NYSC.
The NYSC Rivera State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe commended the Corps Members for their patriotic spirit, resilience, and enthusiasm in actively participating in all camp activities and programmes.
Oleghe noted that such virtues made them fully achieve the intended objectives of the orientation course.
“You should see your service year as a time to discover true purpose in life and positively transform yourselves with acquisition of relevant skills.
“This is to put food on your tables rather than wait for elusive white-collar jobs.”
He deeply appreciated the governor for his prompt response in procuring 1500 8-inch Mouka mattresses for corps members arising from the surge in the number deployment to the state.
“We also appreciate the governor for his commitment to build new 1,000 capacity hostels each for male and female corps members.”
A total of 3, 596 corps members made up of 1, 297 males, and 2, 299 females successfully completed the three–week orientation exercise.
