The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for the Umuahia East state constituency, Sir Innocent Nwachukwu has inaugurated the six million Naira (N6 million) Cassava flour processing machine belonging to the Okwuta Development Union, Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia state.
108scoop.com reports that the candidate also used the opportunity of the inauguration of the machine to attend the Annual Women August meeting.
Addressing the women, the Umuahia East state constituency hopeful praised the women for their motherly role which he said had helped to foster peace and development within the constituency and the entire state in general.
Nwachukwu noted that the Annual August meeting had provided a veritable platform for women to deliberate on issues concerning community development and women empowerment through capacity building.
The YPP candidate, however, described the theme of the event “The role of a woman in the time of economic challenges’’ as being appropriate.
He urged the women to continue to be the shining examples through which sound moral values could be taught in children and wards.
“Women are indispensable people and gender with the highest voting strength in Nigeria.
“I therefore urge you all to key into the transformation agenda for supporting individuals with the capacity to deliver on their electioneering promises in the forthcoming general elections.
“I will always continue to identify myself with the women in all spheres of life, including their projects meant for the development of the society,’’ Nwachukwu said.
In a related development, an Ibeku-born financial expert, Sir Ekele Ochiabuto had endorsed the candidature of the YPP candidate, Sir Innocent Nwachukwu for the Umuahia East state constituency seat.
Ochiabuto, who is also a Rotarian endorsed the candidate when Nwachukwu and his supporters visited him in his Okwuta country home.
According to him, people like Nwachukwu who have good intentions for empowerment and development of humanity should be allowed to occupy elective positions in the country.
He affirmed that Nwachukwu had the intellectual prowess and capacity to engender a people-oriented representation of the constituency.
The financial expert described him as a successful businessman who had done well in enhancing the living standards of the people.
Nwachukwu thanked the financial expert for his foresight and commitment to the development of Umuahia East and lbeku in general.
YPP candidate said that the visit was in continuation of his visits to respected, influential personalities in the constituency, in line with his belief that things must change for good in terms of representation of the constituency.
Nwachukwu, however, noted that he was in the race to make a difference.
