3 traditional chiefs die in auto crash in Oyo

A fatal road accident along Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway on Friday killed three traditional rulers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State

The residents of Oriire Local Government in Oyo State are in mourning following the tragic demise of the three monarchs from the council on Friday.

The sorrowful incident occurred in an unfortunate auto collision between a Benz E230 with the registration number OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck at Aje iye in the Oriire local government area.

The monarch was going to the funeral party of the mother of a brother to a traditional ruler, Oloolo of Oolo, Oba Oyebunmi Ajayi, when the accident occurred in Arinkinkin area of Ogbomoso.

According to newmen, tragically, two of the affected monarchs lost their lives immediately, while the third monarch passed away a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving medical attention.

Among the six passengers involved in the crash, the three survivors are currently undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

The passengers were en route to a social function in a nearby community when the accident unfolded.

The identified monarchs include the Olodogbo of Odogbo, the Alayetoro of Ayetoro, and the Onibowula of Bowula in the Oriire local government area.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Joshua Adekanye, confirmed the incident, describing it as a head-on collision between a private and a commercial vehicle along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.

Adekanye said that the survivors are receiving medical care at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, while the deceased have been placed in the hospital’s morgue.

In a related development on the same day, the FRSC boss revealed that nine out of the 13 individuals suffered varying degrees of burns when a DAF-brand truck caught fire along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.

Fortunately, no lives were lost, and the injured individuals are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
