Bo, Sierra Leone – A seismic shift occurred in the WAFU A Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament as Liberia’s Determine Girls stunned defending champions AS Mandé of Mali with a convincing 3-1 victory on matchday three in Bo, Sierra Leone.

The 2022 regional champions, under the guidance of coach Patience J. Gwah, have now taken sole possession of the top spot in the standings, opening up a crucial gap over their main rivals.

Earlier in the day, Senegal’s Aigles de la Médina missed the opportunity to pull away from the pack, held to a 2-2 draw by a resilient Mogbewmo Queens of Sierra Leone.

With just two matchdays remaining, the race for the coveted spot in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League is heating up.

The next fixtures will be pivotal in determining which team will represent the region on the continental stage.
