4 men in court for allegedly stealing vehicle part

Four men on Friday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing motor springs worth N520,000.

Eze Chibuzor, Cyprain Onyeji, John Paul and Abdullahi Rabilu, whose ages were not given, are charged with conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 11 at the Aspanda Market, Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.

He alleged that Chibuzor, Onyeji, Paul and others at large conspired to steal eight bundles of motor springs belonging to a trader, Mr Ekene Okafor. 

The prosecutor said that Rabilu received the items, knowing that they were stolen.

He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 287, 328, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, L.J.K. Layeni, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case unti April 12 for trial.
