Abia State emerged champions of the maiden South East Open Scrabble Championship in Umuahia after a dominant showing across 22 games.

Abia Tops Table With Strong Results

The host state posted 18 wins and one draw to finish top of the competition. Consequently, Abia sealed the title with an impressive points haul.

Meanwhile, Umuahia hosted the three-day tournament, which drew leading scrabble players from across the South East.

Maiden Event Boosts Mind Sports

Furthermore, the championship marked the first edition of the South East Open Scrabble Championship. Organisers used the event to promote scrabble and strengthen regional competition.

However, Abia’s strong display gave the home fans plenty to celebrate as the state claimed first place.
