The African Democratic Congress (ADC) remains deeply concerned about the growing challenge of hunger and food insecurity that continues to affect millions of Nigerians.

As a party driven by the vision of a prosperous, just, and self-reliant nation, the ADC has developed a comprehensive and people-centered approach to tackle hunger head-on if entrusted with the mandate to lead Nigeria by 2027.

Hunger in Nigeria is not just a problem of insufficient food, but a symptom of weak agricultural policies, poor infrastructure, post-harvest losses, insecurity in farming communities, and lack of access to affordable financing for smallholder farmers.

The ADC recognizes that no nation can truly progress when its citizens struggle to feed themselves, and as such, our commitment is to restore Nigeria’s capacity to feed her people and even export surplus to the global market.

Our key plans include:
1. Agricultural Revolution and Modernization:
ADC will invest heavily in mechanized and climate-smart agriculture, ensuring that both small and large-scale farmers have access to modern equipment, quality seeds, fertilizers, and training to boost productivity.
2. Agricultural Financing and Youth Empowerment:
Through targeted agricultural grants, low-interest loans, and cooperative funding schemes, the ADC will empower youth and women to participate meaningfully in agribusiness, thereby creating jobs and reducing poverty.
3. Rural Infrastructure and Storage Facilities:
The party will prioritize rural road networks, storage centers, and processing hubs to curb post-harvest losses and connect farmers directly to markets.
4. Security for Farmers and Farming Communities:
ADC will strengthen local security and intelligence systems to ensure that farmers can safely access their lands without fear of attacks or displacement.
5. Nutrition and Food Distribution Programs:
Beyond food production, ADC will initiate community-based feeding programs and strategic food reserves to ensure that vulnerable families have access to affordable and nutritious food.
6. Policy Stability and Collaboration:

ADC will work with private investors, cooperatives, and international development partners to sustain food security policies and promote agricultural innovation.

The ADC strongly believes that Nigeria has all it takes to become the food basket of Africa. With visionary leadership, accountability, and inclusive governance, hunger can become a thing of the past.

By 2027, under ADC’s leadership, every Nigerian will not only have food on their table but also pride in the nation’s ability to feed itself.
