Chukwuma Ezeamama, Chairman, Solution Football Club (FC), has called on the media and private sector to support the state-owned team to progress from the Nigeria National League (NNL), to Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Ezeamama made the call during a meeting between the management of Solution FC and leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra state chapter in Awka on Tuesday.
The Chairman said the dream to own a football club in Anambra had been made a reality by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo after over 30 years, adding that every hand should be on deck to keep Solution FC alive.
According to him, the collective efforts of supporters, journalists, and stakeholders are vital to the club’s success.
“The essence of a state investing in sports and owning a football club in particular is not to make profit but to project the image of the state, that is why I want to thank Gov. Soludo for giving Anambra this football Club.
“We are currently in the Nigeria National League, Anambra is overdue to be the Nigeria Professional Football League. It may look difficult but it is possible; that is why we are asking for all the help we can get.
“Promotion will surely happen, I want to thank SWAN for the interest they have shown in what we are doing and I want to assure you that we are ready to partner with you.
“I also want the people of Anambra to see Solution FC as a business they can invest in or use to promote their businesses, to make the club progress to enviable heights.
“This push for support is part of the club’s broader strategy to solidify its position in the league and bring pride to the state,” he said.
Ezeamama said the Anambra football team had come to stay and called on teeming soccer loving people of the state to come out and cheer their team at Awka Township Stadium during games.
On his part, Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN, Anambra Chapter commended Solution FC management for keeping the club competitive since its two years of existence.
Anaso said the possible formation of a state-owned club was the earliest conversation Soludo had with the media and commended him for making it a reality in his first year in office.
The SWAN Chairman pledged the commitment of the sports press to partner Solution FC to ensure audience in Anambra and beyond become more aware of the club’s activities.
“I want to assure you that the media will tell your stories to entertain enthusiasts, provide criticisms and keep you on your toes to ensure the people get the best value out of this huge investment,” he said.
