Awka, Nigeria – Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will not have rivals and so will sweep the Sept. 28 council elections in the state.

Soludo, also the National Leader of the party, said this at the APGA mega rally held in Awka on Saturday.

He said that out of the 10 political parties contesting in the Local Government elections, only APGA was able to field candidates for the 21 Chairmanship and 326 Councillorship positions.

“APGA is fully on ground and ready for the Sept. 28 local government elections and I tell your that there are no oppositions or completion to challenge us.

“About 10 political parties are participating in the elections but only APGA fielded candidates in all the 21 chairmanship and 326 councillorship positions.

“Other parties are not courageous to field candidates to challenge us or even to campaign with their two hands. This is because they know that APGA is the landlord in Anambra,” he said.

The Governor urged residents of voting age to come out en masse and vote for APGA during the Sept. 28 elections in the state.

“People of Anambra, I appeal to you to troop out with your voters’ cards and make APGA emerge victorious.

“The election will be free, fair and transparent, and I assure you that the dividends of democracy will get down to the man in the village,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of APGA, said Anambra had enjoyed 18 years of unbroken progressivism under the party.

“Let us ensure the continuity of progress and development in Anambra by voting for APGA come Saturday.

“We can only appreciate the transformation we are witnessing under Gov. Soludo by supporting and voting for APGA,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr Victor Oye, former National Chairman of APGA, said the candidates for the LG polls were men and women of integrity that would deliver and not disappoint.

A symbolic presentation of the party’s flag was made to the 21 chairmanship and 326 Ward councillorship candidates.,
