Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has mourned the death of Mrs. Mary Amaechi, mother of former Rivers State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi.
Atiku said he joined the Amaechi family, friends and associates in celebrating the life of the late Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
He described her as a devoted Christian who served God faithfully and gave selfless service to her community.
Atiku said many people saw her as a mother because of her kindness and compassion.
Atiku said Nigeria remains grateful for her life because she gave birth to Rotimi Amaechi, whom he described as an outstanding statesman and patriot. Amaechi served as governor of Rivers State and later as Minister of Transportation.
Atiku prayed that God would grant Mrs. Mary Amaechi eternal rest. He also prayed that God would comfort her family, friends and everyone mourning her passing.
