Change of baton in NAMA as Farouk takes over as MD

The new Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Umar Ahmed Farouk has formerly took over as helmsman of the agency.

This was sequel to a formal handover by the immediate past Managing Director, Tayib Odunowo, on Monday at the agency’s headquarters in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.

The brief ceremony saw Odunowo and Umar signed handover documents in the presence of some of NAMA’s durectors

In attendance were former Acting Managing Director of the agency, Mr. Lawrence Mathew Pwajok, the former Director of Public Communication, Mr. Khalid Emele, and many General Managers in the agency.

Farouk is an astute aviation professional with vast aviation expertise.

The Kebbi-born aviator was appointed Executive Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering in 2016 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, a position he held until his new appointment

Just last week, President Bola Tinubu in one fell swoop approved the suspension, removal, and replacement of some Chief Executive Officers under the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development:

They are: Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, who was replaced by Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as new Managing Director of the FAAN.

Director–General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu was replaced by Prof. Charles Anosike as the substantive Director-General of NIMET.c

Also, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo was replaced by Mr. Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the Acting Rector of NCAT, pending the appointment of a substantive Rector, in line with Section 13(2) of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022.

The Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu was also suspended from office to enable the EFCC conduct an unfettered investigation into the activities of the suspended Director-General and other senior officials in the agency. Captain Chris Najomo assumed office as the Acting Director-General of the NCAA immediately.
