Springwell Development Initiative in collboration with Yiaga Africa with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy held a voter registration awareness walk on Thursday in Alimosho LGA of Lagos State

The initiative supports the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration by Independent National Electoral Commission, urging eligible citizens to register and obtain Permanent Voter Cards.

Newsmen reports that over 120 youths from various youth led organisations, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and other volunteer groups took part in the walk.

The organisers and volunteers sensitised residents on electoral rights, participation and the importance of being counted in governance processes.

They encouraged youths and first-time voters to take advantage of the exercise and make their voices heard through active participation.

The groups also called for peaceful engagement and adherence to electoral guidelines during the registration process.

They reaffirmed commitment to strengthening democracy through sustained voter education and community mobilisation across the state.

The Lagos Focal Person for Yiaga Africa, Mr Michael Ogunsola noted that the awareness walk had no affiliation with any political group, rather it was an advocacy to deepen the democratic process in the country.

He urged youths and residents to take their civic duties seriously by registering, collecting their Permanent Voters Card and coming out to vote on election days.
