Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru, and the Ebonyi All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, have dismissed threats from the new political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Both leaders, in separate reactions to perceived threats, over the weekend in Abakaliki, said that the APC is not losing sleep over the coalition.

Nwifuru said there is nothing to worry about because opposition in politics remains static.

“You should expect opposition as a politician and the APC has been looking for something close to that.

“The APC remains focused and resolute to continue giving Nigerians dividends of democracy.”

In his submission, Okoro-Emegha, said though it reserves discussions on national party issues to the governor, the coalition posed no threat.

“I can talk on party affairs in Ebonyi and maintain that Gov. Nwifuru has collapsed opposition structures hitherto existing in the state.

“This is through sterling achievements and inclusive governance, with the people currently not thinking of joining any opposition force.

“God blessed us with a leader who listens to the people and changed the narratives of governance in the state.”

The APC chairman said the party was ready for the 2027 general elections and stepping up efforts to attract more opposition members into its fold.

“The coalition might succed in other states but cannot in Ebonyi because the masses are solidify with the governor.

“The remaining opposition figures in Ebonyi, including a serving federal lawmaker, are on their way to the APC in a matter of weeks.

“APC members should not panic over coalition threats in the country because the party is firmly-rooted in the state.”

He noted that the party would effectively manage varying political interests as it has defined structures within its fold.

“We have been successfully managing such and that is why opposition members keep joining us.

“The governor is the leader of the party in the state and knows how to attune such interests towards its success.”
