
Ezza-South, Nigeria – Ebonyi Governor’s Wife, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has donated a three-Bedroom Bungalow to an indigent widow, Mrs Christiana Nwankwo, in Ezza-South Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi state.
Nwifuru announced the donation during the official inauguration of a 26 bungalow project across the state.
Kicking off the project on Tuesday at Amajim Ameka in Ezza-South LGA, Mrs Nwifuru stated that the building was one of the 26 housing project ongoing for widows across the state.
The governor’s wife had embarked on the widows’ housing project across the state, through her pet project, “Better Health For Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Foundation (BERWO)”.
The governor’s wife, overwhelmed by the achievement made through the Foundation, promised a timely completion of the project.
She stated that the foundation remains committed to compliment governance and assist vulnerable people with decent accommodations.
In his remarks while conducting Mrs Nwifuru round the house, Mr Francis Ori, the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, promised to ensure a perfect and durable job for vulnerable widows.
Ori disclosed that this widow had lived in a thatched house for over 36 years.
He commended Mrs Nwifuru for the professionalism and quality of work done by her team.
The recipient, Mrs Christiana Nwankwo, appreciated the governor’s wife for the life-touching project to alleviate widowhood.
Earlier, the governor’s wife also inaugurated the Uzoamaka Nwifuru ultra modern market and equipment for empowerment in Nkpoghoro community, Afikpo North-East Development Centre (DC) of the state to improve the living standards of youths in the area.
She hailed Immaculate Ibe, Coordinator of the DC, for her grassroots empowerment programme to include the ultra modern market, motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines and crutches among other equipment procured.
She called on other stakeholders to enhance the lives of their people for progress of the state.
In her remarks, Mrs Immaculate Ibe appreciated Mrs Nwifuru for the visit and promised more socio economic growth and development for the people.
