The Dr Innocent Unah Solidarity Movement for Nwiifuru has affirmed the support of Oshiri community and entire Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi state, towards the re-election of Governor Francis Nwufuru.

The movement made the affirmation during its mega rally in Oshiri which attracted thousands of its members and the All Progressives Congress (APC) faithfuls in the community and across the council.

The Coordinator of the Group, Hon. Godfrey Chukwu, said during the carnival–like rally, that Oshiri people in particular were grateful to Nwifuru for remembering them despite the unsavoury indicents of the 2023 elections.

Chukwu highlighted that in 2023, people of the council did not vote for the governor but voted for an opposition gubernatorial candidate who hail from the area.

“The governor however, shoved aside the unsavoury development and still carried people of Oshiri community and indeed the whole council along in his government.

“Nwifuru ensured that Senator Anthony Ani from the council, is representing the Ebonyi South Senatorial district at the National Assembly and that he is still the APC candidate for the position in the 2027 general elections.

“”He still appointed many of our sons and daughters in several positions of authority in the state and ensured that anything due to the council reaches the people,“.

Chukwu said that Oshiri and Onicha people would be eternally grateful to Nwifuru and will not let the opportunity of appreciation again.

Mr Sunday Okike, Youth Leader of the Movement, said that the people have resolved to support Nwifuru because of the immense love he has shown the people.

“The governor has ensured massive infrastructural development of our area not minding the low support he got there in 2023.

“Roads linking many communities have been rehabilitated and. new ones being constructed for the people’s benefit.

“People of the council have also benefitted tremendously fron his administration’s empowerment scheme especially our children who are beneficiaries of the state’s overseas scholarship scheme,”.

The Founder of the Movement, Dr Innocent Unah represented by Comrade Emmanuel Chima, said the people will not repeat the mistakes made in 2023 despite the fact that its son who contested in 2023, is contestiing again.

“Our focus is delivering the governor in the 2027 general elections and nothing will distract our attention from such.

“The governor has treated us well despite what transpired in the past and we want to continue being relevant in his second tenure in office,”.

A motion to support the governor’s second term bid was moved and adopted at the event as stakeholders including women groups, traditional rulers, youths groups among others pledged their support towards the cause.
